  | | | RHEL install and password | RHEL install and password 2004-04-01 - By Ed Wilts
Back If I didn 't have this happen to me twice I 'd claim I was nuts. I did a
fresh install of RHEL 3 U2 on a new box. As expected, the installer
prompted for a root password which I dutifully entered (twice). When
the system came up, the password was invalid. I booted to single-user
mode, reset the password for root, and off I went. The first time I
thought I did a double fat finger. The second time I did a fresh
install on the same box I saw the same issue, and, I 'm now convinced
that there has to be a bug in the installer. However, I 've done a few
other RHEL installs and never had an issue.
Anybody have any ideas as to what 's going on with the root password
setting during the install?
