  | | | new /var partition | new /var partition 2004-04-01 - By Cheryl L. Southard
Back Hi All,
I installed my computer without the /var partition mounted. Later, I
copied mostly everything from the newly created /var partition into
my /var partition, then put the following entry in /etc/fstab
/dev/sda2 /var ext3 defaults 1 2
But now when I reboot, the /var partition doesn 't seem to mount in a timely
fashion. I think it should mount along with the root partition because many
daemons are started up early that need to write to the /var partition.
Instead, it mounts farther along in the boot.
And now the boot process seems to completely hang right after it checks the
integrety of the local filesystems.
Does anyone know what else I need to do to get this separate /var partition
working?
Thanks,
Cheryl
