Can 't Edit K Menu?

Can 't Edit K Menu?

First off, love the new release. Once things get settled down here I 'm
definitely buying the boxed set, which I haven 't done since RedHat 6.2 :-)
This is a keeper.

Anyway, I 'm running into something strange with KDE. It seems that I can 't
delete anything from the K Menu. I can add folders, like OpenOffice, which
put its stuff in ~/.kde/share/applnk but I can 't delete anything using
kmenuedit, and trying to cut gives the error message: "This is a root
item. You don 't have permission to delete it. Hide it instead. "

I want to delete, not just hide.

I get this running as root also. What gives?
